Russell was previously Head of UK & Ireland Retail Equity Derivatives at Citigroup, joining in early 2004. Together with Andrew Lakeman, he successfully established Citigroup as a leader in the provision of private placement structured investments to institutional and professional asset managers in the UK. Along with Andrew and Tom, Russell has been a constant presence in the institutional structured products market in the UK, since its inception in the early 2000s.
Prior to joining Citigroup, Russell was Director of Retail Sales at AXA Investment Managers, with responsibility for the sales of proprietary retail investment funds, multimanager and alternative investment products from AXA Group companies and Alliance Capital Management. Russell's appointment with AXA in 1999 was preceded by 1 year in institutional asset management and 11 years in pensions and investment consultancy.

Andy joined Citigroup in early 2005 to build out the Structured Product business to UK asset managers. Working with Russell Catley he was responsible for the sales and service of the Symphony preference share series. Andrew is also well regarded for his specialist derivatives product training, having delivered programmes for many of the larger discretionary asset management firms over the last few years.
Prior to joining Citigroup, Andrew worked for AXA IM as Investment Sales Manager for London and the South East. Prior to this, he was responsible for strategic alliances at Threadneedle Investments. Andrew started his career in sales at John Govett in the early 90's, who specialised in closed end funds as well as derivative based open ended funds.

As Head of the European Securitised Equity Derivative and Secondary Market Trading teams at Citigroup between 2005 and 2008, Tom was responsible for a team trading all securitised derivative products on both primary and secondary markets.
During this time of significant growth for derivatives markets, Tom was instrumental in establishing Citigroup as a leader in both primary market innovation and secondary market trading for the UK private placement market. Prior to this, Tom was part of the Structured Equity Derivatives Trading team at Citi, with specific responsibility for Constant Proportion Portfolio Insurance and Delta 1 Trading.

Freddie joined Catley Lakeman in 2019 from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he spent 2 years distributing liquidity funds to institutional investors. Prior to this, he spent 5 years in institutional equity sales at Pareto Securities, where he gained experience in the capital markets, raising equity for UK and Scandinavian corporates, in oil and gas, mining, shipping and agriculture. Freddie’s primary role is capital raising for the Atlantic House funds and selling structured products to UK DFMs and institutions. Freddie has a (BA Hons) from Durham University.
Marc joined Catley Lakeman in March 2018 and has 23 years of trading experience. He joined N M Rothschild & Sons London in 1991 initially training as a treasury accountant. After 2 years he progressed onto the precious metals trading desk, where he was a market maker in spot gold, silver and PGMs in addition to physical trading, with several spells trading in Australia and Singapore.
In 2003 he moved to Barclays Capital where he continued these roles as he earned the title of head of spot gold trading.
Tom joined Catley Lakeman in June 2016. Previously he worked in the Newcastle office of Brewin Dolphin where he gained valuable experience in wealth management industry. It was in this role where he gained an interest in investment research and is well regarded for his specialist derivatives investment knowledge. During this time of significant challenges posed by the financial environment, Tom was instrumental in the use of Defined Return Securities and Alternatives within a number of mandates, including for liability-driven investment strategies.
Tom's primary role at CLS is research, including how Defined Return Securities across multiple asset classes can be implemented into both Private Client portfolios as well as derivative based solutions for Mutual Funds. He is also actively engaged in the secondary market and structuring process.
Russ has 14 years of experience in the City, and is an expert in complex financial products and mathematical modelling. He has personally structured and executed over GBP 20 billion of deals, has a deep understanding of both financial and mathematical issues, and is able to communicate these clearly and simply to the layperson. He has a keen insight into investor psychology and experience creating innovative products to meet the needs of different types of investors from large corporations to individuals.
Russ has been applying his financial services industry knowledge and experience to the problems of social impact investing, working with civil society organizations to help them to move forward their social investment strategies. Russ holds an award-winning PhD in computer science.
Owen joined Catley Lakeman during the summer of 2018 on a year-long work placement from the University of Bath, where he studies Mathematics.
Owen’s role within CLS is supporting the trading team through quantitative research and analysis. He is also responsible for the execution and facilitation of trades in the primary and secondary securities market.
Charlie joined Catley Lakeman during the summer of 2018 on a year-long work placement from the University of Bath, where he studies Economics.
Charlie’s primary role within CLS is supporting the sales team through quantitative research and analysis. He is also responsible for the execution and facilitation of trades in the primary and secondary securities market.
Alex joined Catley Lakeman Securities in April 2017.
Having read Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University he embarked on his financial career joining the Broker Services Desk at Aviva Investors helping to promote their Mutual Fund Proposition to UK Intermediaries, Discretionary Fund Managers and Third Parties, before moving to the Retail Structured Equity Derivatives Desk at Investec Bank.
Alex holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments) and the Investment Management Certificate (CFA Institute).
Prior to joining AHFM, Fahad worked at Legal and General for 11 years, where he ran over $1 billion in institutional and retail mandates. Fahad then co-managed the Newscape Diversified Growth Fund. Fahad is a CFA Institute charter-holder and has a deep understanding of industry structure, style factor investing and monetary economics.
Nick Johal joined the team in 2014 as Head of Fixed Income. Identifying an opportunity that exists within synthetic Credit markets and great synergies with our client base, he has been an important addition to the team. He previously spent 14 years at Barclays Capital, most recently running the Fixed Income team within Investor Solutions. Nick was responsible for distributing approximately GBP2bn nominal of Retail Bonds since the inception of the Order Book for Retail Bonds, including the GBP300m 8y LSE and GBP265m National Grid linker. He is regularly invited to speak at the LSE and other industry conferences, gaining a very strong reputation in this area of the market. Early successes in the Retail Bond space led to mandates for successful equity IPO's and Investment Trust launches, the highlight of which was a senior role in the privatisation of Royal Mail (Intermediary Offer.) Previous roles including Multi-Asset Structured Products Sales, Prime Brokerage, Derivatives Operations and Collateral Management.
Concerns around duration, liquidity, valuations and supply in Credit have prompted investors to look for a more flexible solution. Nick believes many of the historical challenges and risks of investing in corporate bonds, which sought to be mitigated by Retail Bonds, still persist and solutions exist using synthetic credit structures such as Credit-Linked Notes, Bond Re-packs and Index Tranches.
Oriana joined the team at Catley Lakeman Securities in June 2015.
Prior to joining Catley Lakeman she spent 3 years at Premier Asset Management on the creative side of the marketing team, gaining experience in the design and layout of sales and marketing communications including presentations, market commentaries, investment reports and press publications.
Oriana brings these skills with her to Catley Lakeman, where her primary role is in supporting the distribution team through the production of marketing materials. She will also be responsible for developing the companies web based and social media presence.
Nina joined Catley Lakeman in November 2011 from Independent Debt Capital Markets- where she gained advisory, arranging and execution experience in the primary market. Additional to this fixed income background, Nina has previously worked in fund management at Premier Asset Management, and also in academic research at the University of Bristol, where she read Economics.
Nina's primary role at CLS is sales, specifically managing many of the key clients and client teams within the major discretionary managers in the UK. She is also involved in many other areas of the business, including research, pricing and structuring.
Jim is a Chartered Certified Accountant, having previously worked in private practice for 8 years where he focused on SMEs and audit. Jim joined Catley Lakeman as Financial Controller in February 2016.
As well as managing the finances and supporting the compliance function, Jim also assists Tom May in managing the Defined Returns Fund and US Enhanced Equity Fund.
Charlie was previously the Chief Investment Officer at Newscape from 2016 to 2018. He oversaw the assets and managed the Diversified Growth Fund. He restructured the fund with a new investment process, while keeping the portfolio diversified and the volatility low. Over the two years under his tenure, fund assets grew to £11m from a standing start, with gross performance at the top of its peer group. Charlie continues to manage the fund at Atlantic House under contract.
Prior to that, Charlie was the Head of Absolute Return at HSBC Global Asset Management, which he joined in 1998 freshly out of the army. He co-founded the Absolute Return Service in 2002, which grew assets to in excess of USD 3 billion across a multi-asset range of portfolios. The ability to combine asset classes in the early 2000s was highly effective. Charlie evolved the process post 2008 to focus on factor investing as asset classes became more correlated. Shortly after joining HSBC, Charlie built a risk-management system to oversee the wealth management division and ensured the firm was the first among competitors to have online access to client portfolios.
Michael has over 30 years’ experience in the investments industry Michael has held many senior roles, most recently he was Director of Investments at Target Group a successful Fintech company and COO at Investec Structured Products where he developed a passion for developing retail focussed investment businesses.
Well respected in the investment industry for his understanding of the regulatory environment, Michael has helped a number of start-up investment businesses to implement their product development and governance frameworks.
Jack joined Catley Lakeman during the summer of 2017 on a year-long work placement from the University of Bath, where he studies Economics.
Jack’s role within CLS is supporting the trading team through quantitative research and analysis. He is also responsible for the execution and facilitation of trades in the primary and secondary securities market.
Delia joined Catley Lakeman in December 2013 having previously worked on the ADR team at the Bank of NY Mellon and the trading team at ADM Capital, a hedge fund based in Hong Kong.
Delia read Pure Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin and the University of California, Berkeley College (GPA 3.7). As part of her degree Delia completed an advanced study on forecasting market trends using statistical models such as F. Delia has also passed the CFA level 1 exam and is working towards completing the CFA Charter.
Delia has taken on a diverse range of roles in sales, trading and structuring at Catley Lakeman Securities.
